For me, mental and physical health are really important. I try my best to always prioritize my health and well-being above all else. Putting yourself first isn’t selfish, it’s important. Focusing on health in my Multimedia Journalism course this semester is something I’m really looking forward to because it’s something I pride myself in. Living with IBS and anxiety are both things that have really impacted my health and have made me aware of how important health truly is. Some of my favorite things to do to take care of myself mentally and physically include, working out, cooking and baking, taking vitamins, doing a skin and hair care routine, and, as pictured above, spending time with friends and enjoying one of my favorite things, coffee.

The first thing I do to take care of myself physically (mentally too!) is taking time to cook or bake homemade meals. Cooking and baking, to me, is therapeutic. It is relaxing and it’s fun to experiment in the kitchen and create new things. It’s even better when you can share your recipes with others. Also, cooking your meals at home rather than ordering out is a lot healthier for you since you know exactly what is going in your body.

The second thing I do to take care of my mental and physical health is working out. Over the last year or so, I have really gotten into working out and taking my health serious. I try to workout at least 3-5 times a week. Working out for me is celebrating what my body is capable of — not punishing it. I try to mix up the type of workouts I do everyday. Working out has helped me physically by getting stronger and mentally by helping me unwind and destress after a long day.

The third and final thing I love doing as part of my self-care routine is taking daily vitamins and supplements and taking care of my skin. Everyday I take a pre + probiotic, elderberry, stress gummy, vitamin c, and collagen. These vitamins help me to feel good and take care of myself inside and out. I try my best to keep my digestion working properly and my immune system strong. I also love to unwind by doing my skincare routine and put on a face mask and cozy right up in bed.

Very well said.
